| I needed to improve my skills in so many areas and just didn't have the experience on my own. I also really enjoyed the company of the people in the club and didn't feel out of my depth being such a novice and starting a such a low base. | |
| I had wanted to give triathlons a try for many years but hadn't been on a bike since the helmet laws came in and had trouble getting to the end of a 50 metre pool without needing a break!
I really wanted to challenge myself with something new and a sport that unlike body sculpting I could actually still eat like a relatively normal person! |
|
| The shorter the better! But I must admit I felt like a real triathlete after my first Olympic distance earlier this year! | |
| By far the toughest race I've ever done was the Palm Beach ocean swim in 2008. Never having been a very strong swimmer and doing my first ever ocean swim in huges swells was an incredible challenge. It took me almost an hour to do 950m before getting resuced by some wonderful lifesavers in a rubber ducky cause I was just so stuffed!!!
It made the 1.5km Moolooba river swim earlier this year seem like a piece of cake though. |

| Whichever leg I happen to suck at least!!! This is usually the bike | |
| I've always liked the saying about the definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. | |
| Blunders? I don't do that!! Although I am probably setting myself up for a big fall here.... | |
| The river loop | |
| I can say that I am the Queensland IFBB Novice Figure Champion for 2004 - fake tan, high heels and muscles galore!! | |
| I do get inspired just seeing ordinary people make improvements to their times or skills - this makes it all seem much more achievable to me. | |
